German developers have recently pleased the player public by their innovatory projects such as “Gothic” and “Spellforce”. If you are a fan of these games Sacred is the right game to play now. It continues the tradition of interesting RPG games.
The game plot is exciting. One of the strongest daemons is at large. He can destroy the world and that’s why 6 heroes are off to stop the devil incarnate.
The classic trio of a soldier (gladiator), wizard and archer is added with a noble seraph, a cruel dark archer and a bloodthirsty vampire. The plot depends on the hero choice. Besides the major quest every town gives the player small tasks. There are 200 of them.
The game got the slogan “the right game to play now” mostly due to its world size. Playing some hours you’ll see that you’ve opened only 2.5% of game territory. Happily the developers have taken into consideration this fact and have brought horses into the game. For the first time since the RPG genre existence one can go to the stable, examine the horses captiously and paying very little money go to search adventures with faithful horse.
A horse is not only the mean of transport but the helper to kill your enemy. Every personage has special tricks that can be combined into combo, more effective mode session than attacks. They are followed with brilliant special effects.
RPG game system is sustained in the traditions of minimalism: one can improve its characteristic on a point in every level. The archer is concentrated on ride and accuracy, the gladiator does on vitality and axe action and an unusual vampire can call wolves, will submission and the bite that can turn the victim to the slave.
The enemies are attractive 3D heroes that gushes everything around with their crimson blood when dieing. And if the stab is successful they even deprive of their extremities or heads. These tricks can even hamper the view if zooming maximally because blood pulsing fountains detract one’s attention from tactical contrivance. However violence volume can be regulated in the game menu.
Hundreds types of equipment and weapon (including the gear for a favorite horse), the possibility to bewitch various things, the personage import for passing the next higher level and other exciting tricks make “Sacred” bloody, beautiful and very absorbing. There are no plot contrivances or difficult moral dilemmas there but everything is compensated by a non-stop action happening in the colorful fantasy decorations.
